You're From The Isle If Anybody Asks

First Awareness
Those used to this by now probably knew what it meant when they felt their magic return for a moment. For the rest, suddenly their powers were back. Just for a few minutes, but a lot could be done in a few minutes. If the person even noticed their powers were back, that is.

Of course those on the shore might have seen the hazy indistinct shape through the barrier coming closer, might have seen the moment the hole in the barrier opened. Might have seen King Ben leading people down a gangplank through the barrier with crates of supplies....

Unions, Re And Otherwise
Once the supplies were unloaded, the barrier was sealed up again. King Ben seemed to be in charge during the unloading, Once the barrier was closed again, by the green magic streaming from the Queen's finger, it was Mal who seemed to be in charge.

"Alright, listen up. We have 2 hours and the clock is ticking. I'm not FG but we're keeping to a deadline anyway. If you want to come to Auradon or know someone you want us to bring back, you have 2 hours to convince us. You and everyone else, sharing the same 2 hours. Along with anyone who has a supply request for our next visit, or updates. Those of you bringing supplies to the school, time to get cracking. Two hours passes faster than midnight at the ball."

Those Who Left
(Please TL Here for boat and Auradon Shenanigans. TY)

Those What Remain
Once those going back to Auradon had left and the barrier was back in place, it was for those who remained on the Isle to sort the supplies and figure out how to get done everything that needed to be done with the people that remained.

"Alright," Ian said. They brought the folded paper over. The visible strip had what looked like a straight line along the bottom that then went up at a slight angle before flattening to another plateau, that ended with an angle down to another flat line at the original height. There was a thick dot everywhere that the line changed angles. Ian moved the paper to where it faced Sun and took a dime from their pocket, facing the face towards the lines.

"Let us take the coin as your proxy. I want you to place arrows under it, one for each stretch between dots, in the direction that you want the proxy to move to get to the furthest part of the page."

Sun eyed the paper, silent for a second, and then looked up at Ian. He didn't say anything, then just looked back down at the bits of paper. "....This is about how to write a how-to list sort of thing, isn't it."

"All programing can be broken down to a list of instructions on how to do a thing, so yes."

"Right... but I'm not sure if this is the sort of programming I use. I don't see any arrows, I see... ummm...."

He tilted his head a bit as he thought about it. "Things like... 'Insufficient privileges to access'... some... file...?" He didn't look up as he said it, absently fiddling with one of the little bits of paper with an arrow on it. "Or... or 'No such file or directory' when something is supposed to be there...?"

"These arrows are part of the building blocks that get to that point. I mean technically at its most basic programing is just patterns of zero and one, but that's like telling you to start building a pyramid with atoms. We're skipping the atom stage and going right to the building blocks stage. So while you can build a pyramid with toy foam blocks, building one that can withstand weight needs not only more solid blocks like stone, but also needs support engineering and math. But when you learn to build a pyramid, you start with soft foam blocks or coins. You learn the simplified easier to manipulate version first to understand the basics. That's what the arrows are. They're foam building blocks."

"So.... stuff like... 'LS' and 'DU' and 'PS AUX' are arrows, here?"

That wasn't programming code, those were Linux or Unix Terminal commands.

"Actually those are terminal commands. They are... a bit more complicated," Ian admitted

"Oh... oh! So I'm past that part we were talking about? Okay... um... so I tried telling it 'fsck', and... it told me 'Permission denied'...? So how do I get it to stop telling me that? Because it's saying that about just about everything."

Ian suddenly had a headache. "Would you be okay if we get you hooked up to an external display so I can get a better look at what you're seeing?"

Sun seemed to sink at that, but the way his rays slid the rest of the way back out again spelled relief. "Please? It's-- I think it's right here?" He turned to look away, to show Ian the back of his head and the circuit boards that sat there on it, exposed, the end of a finger on that odd port of his, moving a little as he felt for the opening. "Yeah, right here."

He took his finger back off it so it wouldn't obstruct Ian's view, and barely turned his head, just a little, to see the boxes. "....So we should set this stuff up first after all...?"

"Let me see what the port looks like first so I can figure out if I can rig up anything." A small sigh. "I do wish Jenn was here right now..." Wait. "No, strike that, I wish you me and Jenn were all at my apartment right now."

"Oh. ...Because you have more computer stuff there?"

Sun knew the drill from his earlier encounter with River: stay down low enough to give an easy view, and hold still. He sank down a little more, tilting his head forward so that the area in question hopefully caught the light a little better.

If Ian wanted to get a good look at his computer... well, it was now in very easy view.

"That too... but mostly Jenn and I make a good team. I know mostly white hat techniques and strategies, and let's just say she's more grey these days." Not that Ian hadn't gotten them all in deep trouble recently through less than ethical means out of desperation. But still, Jenn was the one up to her neck in it with them. "If there is ever a sneaky way to do something with a computer, you can always count on Jenn to figure it out."

And on the back of his head, Sun's custom port was... very custom indeed. A bunch of pins in the sides of a strangely-shaped recess, mounted on his circuit board... but if they were here to do some tech work that might involve wiring things, surely they'd have a multimeter with them? ...Then again, if they hadn't had a soldering iron....

Well, at least here, Sun could presumably tell them something about things he saw, as Ian messed with them?

And the screws holding his circuit boards in place were absolutely standard torx bits. In a pinch, if they heated up the plastic of a cheap Bic pen, they could probably press that into one and make their own screwdriver for it. The boards were small enough to be laptop contents; the components seemed mostly standard for present-day-ish tech.... one of the visible chips even had "2030" printed in its QC stamp.

"I might be able to rig something to make the port accept a USB wire, if I have a spare of the right kind... hold on." They moved away and over to their nags, digging through them. "This was not what I thought I'd be doing when I packed... so I'm not sure I have what... ah. This should work. I can just double up charging on another wire for a while."

"If you're going to use a charger cord... you can borrow my charger while I'm not using it, if you want?" Sun had moved just a little bit, to peek over to see what Ian was getting at, curious.
