First Awareness

Those used to this by now probably knew what it meant when they felt their magic return for a moment. For the rest, suddenly their powers were back. Just for a few minutes, but a lot could be done in a few minutes. If the person even noticed their powers were back, that is.

Of course those on the shore might have seen the hazy indistinct shape through the barrier coming closer, might have seen the moment the hole in the barrier opened. Might have seen King Ben leading people down a gangplank through the barrier with crates of supplies....

Unions, Re And Otherwise

Once the supplies were unloaded, the barrier was sealed up again. King Ben seemed to be in charge during the unloading, Once the barrier was closed again, by the green magic streaming from the Queen's finger, it was Mal who seemed to be in charge.

"Alright, listen up. We have 2 hours and the clock is ticking. I'm not FG but we're keeping to a deadline anyway. If you want to come to Auradon or know someone you want us to bring back, you have 2 hours to convince us. You and everyone else, sharing the same 2 hours. Along with anyone who has a supply request for our next visit, or updates. Those of you bringing supplies to the school, time to get cracking. Two hours passes faster than midnight at the ball."

Those What Remain

Once those going back to Auradon had left and the barrier was back in place, it was for those who remained on the Isle to sort the supplies and figure out how to get done everything that needed to be done with the people that remained.

Unions, Re and Otherwise

Eli was only aware of the boat arriving because other people started heading for the shore and she overheard them from her perch on the roof.

Her first instinct, of course, was to hide. She didn't trust these mysterious people from across the water not to see her for the fiefling she was. She still was in shock that she crossed the bridge that no one had questioned her right to do so.

But look how that had turned out for her. Somehow the Hawklord had sent her here. Then filled her head with terrifying images of the future that might await if she somehow made it back.

Not a chance.

Except....

Except... she made a bet with Foulques. A bet. And she was a fiefling. It was a bet. She had to go.

But she was going to be killed. She just knew it.

Even as a feifling, her life for a bet?

Besides. she had seen those vision things. There was nothing good waiting for her. There or here. Was it so bad if they did kill her?

Not... really.

She'd never been strong enough to do it herself. Hadn't she expected the Hawklord to do exactly that if she failed?

Terrified, she slipped off the roof and tried to hug the thorn wall to keep from being seen as she crept behind people towards the shore.

Very few places to hide there. She saw the fishing shack but the tall man, Doctor something or other, he had taken the best shadowed spot. So she crept around to hide behind the shack, peering out from its other side. Trying to get her courage up.

Trying to figure out how much it would hurt when they killed her, and how she was supposed to collect on her bet then. Stupid bet. She should have thought before agreeing. But it was a bet....

Eyes narrowed, hunched down to the ground, she watched the people unload and tried not to shiver...

Too small to be of much help offloading cargo, Leia had busied herself with looking around. Not that there was a whole lot to see. A tall, skinny man could be seen lurking in the shadows made by the walls of a rickety fishing shack. Though she'd known the word, Leia had never actually seen someone lurk before, but this guy was definitely lurking. Probably best not to talk to him.

The other person she was able to spot near the fishing shack though wasn't lurking. The dark haired girl was trying to stick to the shadows too, but she was definitely hiding, not lurking. More importantly, she resembled the description Gilbert had given her of Elianne.

With a quick glance behind her just to make sure no one was near enough to easily grab her and stop her, Leia scampered over to where the other girl was hiding. "Hi," she said. "My name's Leia. Are you Elianne?"

Child. that cut through everything else for Eli, as it always did; making her protective. She gave a small nod, warinesses failing her in the face of child. Better... well fed child. It almost was enough to make her happy.

"You're new here? Don't worry, I can help keep you safe. I'll show you all the hiding spot and which adults are more dangerous," she assured her keeping hr voice quiet but intent.

Morse was gonna spit her for this, but she found she didn't care. All that mattered was protecting this child.

"Well we can be friends, sure, but I've already got people to take care of me," Leia said. "And I'm not staying here; I came over with everyone from Auradon cause I wanted to help."

"Anyway, it's really important that you come back to Auradon with us or else time will explode." OK, maybe Gilbert hadn't put it exactly like that, but it amounted to the same thing. "You'll probably have to talk to Ben and Mal first, but don't worry, they're nice. Even if Mal likes to act like she's all tough and grumpy."

She had been about to ask if the child actually still had parents, but the thing about time exploding confused her out of any other response.

"Time... can explode?" she asked, wide eyed. She had dreamed of time as a river that she could travel, but the idea of it exploding was something new to think about.

"Well... maybe not explode," Leia admitted. "But something really bad'll happen to it. And nobody wants that, so you really need to come with us."

[elianne]

"I.... I made a bet.... but they'll see what I'm like and they won't take me," she said, taking a step back. "People like me don't belong over there," she added, bitterness and pain in her voice.

"You mean people who offer to look out for someone littler than them the moment they meet them?", Leia said. "Cause that's pretty much the first thing you did, and it was really nice."

[elianne]

She shook her head. "One nice thing aint enough, you'll see. Besides, that was easy enough. You don't look like you'd eat too much."

"Well you don't look like you'd eat much either," she said. "And I bet you've done lots of other nice things too, and could do lots more if you wanted."

She shrugged, looking away. "Not like we got much choice anyway."

Roxas was only really there to make sure Elianne left the Isle this time. As soon as the boat made landing he slipped from the bright vest they made him wear and scanned the shore line. He wasn't really expecting to see the girl, expecting to have to go look for her on the roof or in the basement of the school, luckily for him, he spotted her familiar silhouette near the fishing shack.

He knew how much Elianne didn't like people realizing she was there, so he slipped away from the Auradon group and headed up the beach a ways, before ducking into the shadows and doubling back to where he'd spotted Elianne lurking. When he came up behind her, he lowered his hood, though he stayed leaning against the wall of the shack to stay hidden from the bustling shore.

"Hey, Elianne..." He wasn't sure what to say after that. He wanted to apologize for leaving her behind last time. He needed to tell her about the weird warning those people had given him. He settled for, "Are you okay?"

Xion stayed close to Roxas, clinging to his hand. She was terrified he'd vanish. Also terrified that he would choose to stay here instead of coming back with her to where Axel was waiting for them. She just wanted to go back with Roxas so they could all have ice cream and watch the sunset. Not talk to some strange somebody that Roxas might decide he wanted to be with instead of her.

"Roxas!" Eli said quietly but with clear relief. There was a moment when she tried to hide it, tried to mask. But failed. She always was a trash liar. Especially with her expressions. But right on the heels of relief was something that actually did steal her smile. Fear. "Did.... did they kick you out?" she asked in a whisper. "I... I made a bet... I have to go to fulfill my end, but if they kill me... you get what Foulques owes me for the bet, okay?" she asked, having not noticed Xion at all yet.

He frowned at that. "I didn't get kicked out. I'm here to get you. I'm sorry I left without you last time, there was so much going on and..."

He shook his head. "No one's gonna hurt you there, I promise, but even if someone tried, I'll protect you."

So many emotions on her face. Surprise, tentative joy, catching herself and being wary. then something that was like a mix of longing and pain. "Don't get yourself hurt for me," she mumbled. The unspoken "I'm not worth it" was clear in her expression.

He could tell something was going on by her face. She seemed almost happy, and then upset, and other things in there he wasn't equipped to decipher. He caught himself wishing for Axel, then remembering the redhead was waiting for them back in Auradon. Hopefully he'd be able to help Roxas understand Elianne better, but that was only if he could get her off the Isle.

"No one will get hurt. But... people might get hurt if you stay here. I didn't really understand it, but apparently something is wrong with time, and you have to leave the Isle's shield to fix it. So... please, come back with us?"

She wanted to argue, but her shoulders slumped. "I hafta. I made a bet..." she mumbled. "So I gotta go there. Even if they're gonna know I don't belong there...."

"None of us belong there. This isn't our World, but you don't belong here either. So isn't it better to be where you don't belong where there's food?" Since she was a Somebody, he hoped that might sway her a bit. They'd spent a lot of time together here looking for food.

Her stomach growled before she could reply. She shook her head. "ISn't it like the city?" she asked, saying the word City with a mix of the hope used for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and the bitterness of having been rejected. "Needing money cause you get got as soon as you lift? I got no money, Roxas... At least here no one's putting me in jail for theivin."

"I'm... not really sure, but I don't think so. You don't need Munny for food. Malia makes lots. And there are a lot of missions to do if you want to help, but you don't really have to. You won't get in trouble. Right Xion?" He... didn't think he was explaining this right, but Xion had been there longer than him. Maybe if she helped explain, Elianne would understand easier.

Xion's eyes went wide under her hood. She had to talk? Why was Roxas making her talk?

"Who is..." Eli leaned around him and that was when she noticed. Her eyes went a bit wider and she looked at her, trying to see under her hood. "Who are you?" she asked.

Xion shrunk back more, but kept clinging to Roxas' hand.

"Who is she?" Eli asked Roxas instead.

Oh right... He forgot Xion tended to be like this with new people. She talked so much more with him and Axel. He squeezed Xion's hand. "Elianne, this is Xion. She's one of my friends, you remember I told you about Axel? He's here too. Well, in Auradon. He couldn't come back to look for you with us cause coming here makes him... sick, I guess."

Eli frowned, considering. "She seems... younger than you...." And something was softening in Eli's face. The girl... reminded her a little of Jade. Jade didn't open up easily either. Hadn't... She forced herself to focus on the new child rather than letting herself be sick.
