"The more visible ones are a sort of odd glyph and are typically on their face or neck. They also sport a larger one resembling an eye elsewhere on their bodies, but that may or may not be visible, depending on their manner of dress. It always seemed to me an odd choice for marking great scholars, but it's persisted for centuries, so they must find some value in it."
