Time To Rock!
BOOM
The first explosion rocked the whole Isle. The walls shook, the ceiling, the ground... the roof dumped all its piled snow, destroying all progress made towards getting out and the clouds unleashed icy rain to cement it all in place. And since no one had dealt with the crocodile, everyone is now locked in with an angry shook up croc, while trying to deal with everything that has just fallen off of... well.. everywhere. Anything on a desk, a shelf, nailed to a wall... nothing was safe. And that includes both Yen Sid's main lab downstairs, and his temp lab upstairs.
Also if you had been sleeping on anything other than the floor when it happened - right about midnight - welcome to the floor. Same for anyone walking or standing, and probably most people who were sitting on desks or chairs. This was a big one.
And like most quakes, there were several smaller aftershocks taking up perhaps the next hour. None as big or as dramatic, but all enough to knock someone off their feet and hinder the clean up effort.
The thing with each explosion though - although no one was outside to see it - the barrier took a hit with each one. And at the same time as each shake, for a half a second at a time at most... the barrier was down.
But after that half second it was back, strong as ever. Anyone fast enough to use magic in that unpredictable half second? Go for it. But for the most part it will be disconcertingly jarring to have powers flicked back on at the same time the floor is shaking, and stilling before the floor does.
At the end of the hour, all is quiet. No powers, but no more quakes. And with everyone locked in by snow and rapidly freezing ice, no way to go out and investigate...
But there is still plenty to do indoors. And a very ticked off crocodile roaming the school...
