Extra info: this bot is kinda tall. And if anyone wants to know what they sound like... :D

In one of the lower levels -- not so low as to still be flooded, but unused enough for no one to have turned the lights on lately... there was a crash, and a screech.

It wasn't the biggest crash; someone had just dropped a box of something. But the screeching... that sounded like genuine distress. It was a higher-pitched voice, probably not one anyone would have found all that immediately familiar. "No" could be made out clearly enough at first, repeated, louder and more frantically, until after a few seconds, it sounded strangled... and then it was quiet.

Dare someone investigate?

"I'll need some time to make new puppets... but I could put on a puppet show, if you want? Or we could do fingerpainting or something?" He tilted his head the other way, one of those exaggeratedly confused sorts of gestures.

She laughed. "Never mind, I'm good at finding my own amusement. You don't have to do anything out of the ordinary to provide it."

"You're really confusing, you know that? But... if you don't want a puppet show, what do you want? ...I could teach you how to do cartwheels, maybe...?"

"Oh, I already know how to do that, sweetie, but after a few hundred years one dos have to have some care for dignity. Especially when your husband acts like an eternal 12 year old. One of us has to be the adult, and sadly that is left to me."

"Okay... but that doesn't tell me what you want."

"Does what I want matter?"

He made a somewhat exasperated sound, and finally just gave a somewhat cartoonish shrug. She's the one that started this! He was lost!

"Well?"

"Well what? I don't even know what we're talking about any more!"

"Is what I want important?"

"I don't know what it is that you want. And I'm not getting married! I'm a giant toy! So I have no idea how to answer that!" His rays were retreating a bit further, stance sinking a little lower. His eye-height was already under hers, how he'd been standing before, but this was just making it more obvious....

"Put aside the married part for a moment. There is something I want. It doesn't matter at the moment if you know what there is. Does my wanting something... does my caring about something enough to want it make it important?"

"I... guess? I don't-- what does this have to do with me being made out of plastic?" He raised his hands to the sides of his flat head to hold it as he looked back down. It wasn't quite an identical gesture, but in spirit, it seemed quite akin to someone running their fingers into their hair to hold their temples with their palms... part facepalm, part effort to stave off a headache, entirely a sign of stress, judging by his stance and vocal tone.

"Spoilers. We'll get there. Okay so it matters what I want. Thank you. Why?"

"You tell me." He made another little sound, kind of a sigh, kind of a quiet groan, not looking up again yet.

"What I want matters for the same reason what you want matters. Does that answer the riddle?"

"What riddle?" Those hands were staying on his head, for now.

"The riddle of why what we wants matters."

He made a sound that was a rather good impression of a sigh, and still quiet, "And what is it you want?"

"What changes. Why is the more pertinent question."

"All... right? Then... why?" Honestly, he wasn't sure if he was even following any more. Why did it have to be so stressful, to be so confused?

"Because we're both people of worth, that's why. Doesn’t mean that we should always get what we want, but what we want matters all the same."

His head rotated a little more -- the kind of tilt that said he wasn't sure what to make of her saying what she'd said, and he seemed to sink a bit further in his stance, the few rays sticking out where he wasn't holding his head tucking back into it a little more. He hadn't entirely looked up, but he could probably see her well enough, from the angle he'd managed. "....Sure...." He didn't sound sure. He sounded baffled. "....Okay...."
